Ever since Kewpie Corporation was established in 1919, its product manufacturing from one era to the next has adhered to an unwavering insistence that good products begin with good ingredients. As a company that handles food items, honesty and integrity have been the hallmarks of our business mindset. This approach reflects the spirit of our founder, who exhorted employees to earn customers’ trust and ensure the long-term continuation of the company by acting on moral principles, striving for originality and ingenuity, and looking after [their] parent's well being (and, by extension, the well being of anybody else who had helped them). It also reflects Kewpie’s core values: our founder’s belief that “the world is fairer than you imagine.”
From a product development perspective, we have always been pioneers, and we were the first company to supply mayonnaise and dressings to the Japanese market. Adopting a customer-oriented approach, our product manufacturing has focused on ensuring ease of use for as many people as possible. To this end, we have redoubled our efforts to employ universal design principles, such as labels that are both easy to read and easy to understand.
We believe that eating can be a source of joy; it allows us to feel the warmth of the people around us, generates a sense of gratitude, and reinforces the ties between individuals. We strive, therefore, to promote good health through food by combining pursuit of our business activities with active contribution to society. Recognizing that the benefits nature provides support our endeavors, we will pass a sustainable society on to future generations by making effective use of natural resources and taking committed action to preserve the environment.
