Collagen is a support for the skin structure of the dermis and forms a reticulated structure with elastin fiber. By contrast, Hyaluronic acid fills the gaps in that reticulated structure. Collagen is the framework, Hyaluronic acid assists in sustaining the flexibility of that framework, giving the skin firmness and moistness.

Kewpie manufactures using both the Chicken comb extraction and the fermentation methods. As a raw material for pharmaceuticals we are able to provide either, as appropriate to customer request. Cosmetics and raw materials for food products are manufactured using the fermentation method.

There is no difference in basic structure. There was also no difference in the results from human oral ingestion tests conducted by Kewpie.

Hyaluronic acid from fermentation does not contain any allergenic substances.
